Backend Software Developer (Alicante (Alacant))

About the Role The Backend Software Developer will join our Tech Department in the Tech Hub & Innovation Center in Alicante. The position involves building a brand new platform from scratch with modern architecture, including hexagonal patterns, event-driven components, and a cloud-based relational database, deployed across 18 countries. Your Future Team This role belongs to the IT Billing Systems & Digital Contracts team, responsible for designing and developing the new platform. Responsibilities
- Collaborate on architectural decisions for products, SaaS, and cloud components, and help define non‑functional requirements.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in development, integration, testing, security, and company guidelines.
- Support and maintain production environments, ensuring reliability, performance, and service continuity.
- Hands‑on development, delivering features on time and delivering continuous value to end users.
- Perform technical analysis and solution design, proposing backend implementation alternatives. Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Strong Java backend development background with experience in enterprise‑scale systems.
- More than 5 years of experience with RESTful APIs and service‑oriented architectures.
- Solid knowledge of object‑oriented design, clean code principles, and backend architecture patterns.
- Over 5 years of experience with relational and non‑SQL databases, particularly SQL Server and MongoDB.
- Experience with:
- Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs.
- Static code analysis and quality tools (e.g., SonarQube).
- Dependency and package management tools.
- Version control systems (Git‑based workflows).
- Experience working in Agile environments. Will Be a Plus
- Exposure to frontend technologies such as Angular and Node.js, with a strong focus on backend‑frontend integration.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, including Jenkins.
- Experience maintaining or modernizing legacy enterprise applications, common in long‑running billing platforms.
- Understanding of MVC or layered architecture patterns applied to backend systems. Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, combined with a adaptable and collaborative mindset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a results‑driven approach.
- Ability to analyse, synthesise, and respond effectively in high‑pressure environments with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
