**Working for Open Cosmos**
Aim high, go beyond! At Open Cosmos we are solving the world’s biggest challenges from space, providing businesses, governments and researchers access to more readily available information than ever before
- ready for the challenge? Then read on
**Working in the Satcoms Systems Team**
The satcoms systems team is responsible for modelling, simulating, and continuously optimising the performance of Open Cosmos’ satellite communication infrastructure. This includes the space segment, inter-satellite links, terminals, and ground connectivity, ensuring our end-to-end systems deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable service under dynamic conditions.
We work with cutting-edge technologies such as digital twins, autonomous networks, and large-scale constellation models. The team plays a key role in design validation, mission planning, and performance-driven engineering decision-making.
**What will you be doing?**
As a Systems Performance Engineer, you will be the go to person the modelling and optimisation of Satcom systems, influencing decisions across constellation design, payload performance, and network orchestration. You’ll build end-to-end simulations to predict system behaviour, uncover bottlenecks, and support autonomous operations.
Working with teams across architecture, integration, and mission planning, your models will define and track KPIs like latency, throughput, and link availability, driving key trade-offs in cost, coverage, and service quality. You'll also help develop digital twin tools and real-time optimisation algorithms, validating performance through simulation, testing, and flight data analysis.
**What you need to be successful**
We care about what you can do and how you think. If this role excites you, we want to hear from you, even if you are not sure you tick every box.
Different seniority levels will be assessed for this role.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A solid foundation in system-level engineering, performance simulation, or network optimisation—ideally within satellite or telecom contexts.
- Proficiency in software development using tools like Python, MATLAB/Simulink, or C++ for simulation and modelling.
- Strong understanding of RF link budgets, inter-satellite links, orbital dynamics, routing, and QoS management, along with a track record of simulating large-scale systems such as satellite constellations or RF networks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead trade studies, define performance KPIs, and validate designs through simulation and testing.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the capability to turn complex technical analysis into clear, actionable insights for product and engineering teams. Postúlate en Kit Empleo: kitempleo.es/empleo/6ucsnp
