**Job Purpose**
- The role, under the overall direction and line management of the SEN Coordinator for Learning Support, to ensure all primary children on the Learning Support register have appropriate provision and intervention.
- To deliver lessons and intervention sessions for small groups of students that are responsive to the needs of students with a range of learning challenges, such as intellectual delay and ASD, ADHD, Speech Language Communication Need, Social Emotional Mental Health needs, Dyslexia and Dysgrapia
- To be adaptable and adjust to the needs of an expanding school, actively contributing to its development and growth
**Areas of Responsibility and Key Tasks**
**Individualized Support for SEN Students**
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with special educational needs, ensuring tailored support based on each student's specific needs.- Adapt teaching methods and resources to accommodate different learning styles, disabilities, or challenges, ensuring inclusive access to the primary curriculum.- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to address specific learning, behavioral, or emotional needs of SEN students.**Classroom Teaching and Lesson Planning**
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that are accessible to students with diverse learning needs, focusing on their strengths while addressing their challenges.- Utilize a variety of teaching strategies, including multisensory approaches and assistive technology, to support students’ learning and development.- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and promotes the social, emotional, and academic well-being of all students.**Assessment and Monitoring of Progress**
- Regularly assess and track the progress of students with SEN, using appropriate assessment tools and strategies (both formal and informal).- Modify teaching plans and interventions based on ongoing evaluation of student progress, ensuring that students’ goals are met.- Maintain detailed records of student progress, IEP updates, and any behavioral or academic interventions implemented.- Use appropriate communication strategies such as Makaton, PECS, or visual aids where necessary.**Collaboration with Colleagues and Specialists**
- Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN coordinators (SENCo), and other school staff to ensure that appropriate support is in place for SEN students.- Collaborate with external professionals, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists, to implement recommended strategies and interventions.- Participate in staff meetings, case reviews, and multi-agency meetings related to SEN provision and student support.- Assist with personal care (if required), including toileting, feeding, and mobility support.**Behavior and Emotional Support**
- Implement behavior management strategies to support students with emotional or behavioral difficulties, ensuring a calm and structured learning environment.- Provide emotional and social support to students, helping them develop coping skills, self-confidence, and resilience.- Encourage students' social and emotional development and support their independence.- Promote positive behavior and address any challenges proactively, working with students, parents, and staff to resolve issues constructively.**Engagement with Parents and Guardians**
- Maintain regular communication with parents or guardians to provide updates on student progress, challenges, and successes.- Facilitate meetings with parents to discuss IEP goals, review student progress, and develop strategies to support learning at home.- Provide advice and guidance to parents on how to support their child’s development and learning outside of school.**Professional Development and Training**
