Job Description Airframe Structural Design Engineer with 10–15 years of experience in metallics and composites hybrid design and manufacturing technologies applied to the detailed design of major aircraft components (as opposed to assemblies), including elementary parts and interfaces, for concept, development and sustain Derivatives Programmes (e.g., A321 Derivatives AEWC and A330 Derivatives). Responsibilities
- Design structures of major aircraft components, elementary parts and assemblies optimized for weight, cost, performance, and production/assembly requirements while ensuring the highest safety standards using appropriate design tools and methods.
- Apply knowledge of Airbus methods, tools, regulations, procedures and directives where relevant.
- Identify technical activities across the development end-to-end design lifecycle to develop a system/product with confidence aligned to aerospace regulations under Airbus Defense derivatives programmes requirements.
- Leverage experience from other Airbus Defense and Airbus Commercial programmes and collaborating with external suppliers as applicable.
- Work across definition, concept and development phases interfacing with stakeholders (Chief Engineer, Architects & Integrators, Stress, Systems Analysis, Installation, Manufacturing, Configuration, Material & Process, Certification and Airworthiness), including external supplier engagement.
- Possess or develop experience in design for manufacturing support, lifecycle support, and related processes (e.g., NC, concessions, ERC, PcP, PM, SI; MAP support for FAL; in-service sustaining and repairs).
- Communicate effectively with teams, demonstrate proactivity, goal orientation, collaboration and project management in a multidisciplinary environment. Qualifications and Skills
- Academic background: Master’s degree in Aeronautical or Industrial Engineering or similar engineering discipline (bachelor’s acceptable with relevant experience).
- Experience: 10–15 years in metallic and composite technologies applied to aerospace, with emphasis on airframe structural design; preferred experience in wing, empennage and fuselage structures, systems installation and mechanisms (e.g., doors).
- Structural design tools and methods: strong knowledge of design and configuration management with experience using Airbus design tools (e.g., Catia V5/V6, Catia 3D, EPD, Optegra, 3DX, SNT, Solings, DEMAT); this is a competitive advantage.
- Additional knowledge: experience in design for manufacturing support, MAP support for FAL and/or in-service sustaining support and repairs (SB, AMM, SRM) is advantageous.
- Languages: good level of English and Spanish; basic French is a plus.
- Soft skills: good communication, proactivity, goal orientation, open-mindedness, collaborative mindset, team spirit and project management abilities.
