**Your Job** The **Global Packaging Engineer** will work as part of the Corporate Packaging Capability, focusing on developing, design, and supplying all the packaging for the new models in the EU plants, for WIP, FG, Intercompany parts and spare parts when is required.
This role will interface directly with all EU manufacturing sites and sometimes with NA manufacturing sites to develop all new packaging, with a goal to provide correct packaging in correct place and correct time, minimize capital spend and focus on reducing cost of quality concerns, as well as interfacing with customers to implement standard designs on expendable packaging.
This role will focus on the "provide the correct packaging" aspect of new launches, as we look to develop cost effective solutions for complex value streams.
This position will report to the Corporate Global Packaging Supervisor and will reside as part of the Production Readiness Capability.
**What You Will Do**
- Work with estimation group to quote all possible new business to all different customers.
- Work with packaging suppliers designing, quoting, reviewing lead times, for all new packages utilizing critical economic thinking skills when it comes to future packaging designs, focusing on developing designs that eliminate embedded insurance, and lead initiatives to optimize the material flow throughout SRG Global manufacturing sites.
- Interact with customers in order to develop, design and approve all new models of packaging based on the SRG Global requirements.
- Relate to all manufacturing plants developing new packaging focus on the standardization pack process.
- Interface with SS&P; reviewing the correct prices for all packaging types.
- Responsible for the design and development of the expendable packaging spare parts, focus on the standardization. Manage design, development and implementation, ensuring that internal and external packaging approvals are updated with design solutions that drive cost savings.
- Collaborate with the supply chain capability and manufacturing sites to lead the development of a re-usable WIP container strategy that promotes flexibility and is compatible for all sites, including alignment with future material handling automation.
- Support the development process of packaging, focusing on operation improvements. Including Cost of Quality initiatives that may be impacted by the packaging (scratch, dimensional management, etc.).
- Travel domestically and internationally to SRG Integral manufacturing sites, packaging supply base and customers when required.
- Support value stream team using his knowledge in automotive production process on review the fleet packaging calculation.
- Supporting the 3 EU plants on the day-to-day packaging issues.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Demonstrated background in engineering (preferent in new program launches).
- Demonstrated expertise in analyzing data and using such data to identify trends and implement improvements.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate complex situations and determine the best course of action.
- Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to achieving shared goals
**What Will Put You Ahead**
- Product development and/or manufacturing operations experience is a plus, with a good understanding of exterior trim products.
- Project/program management skills, with a comprehensive understanding of automotive product development gates, timing, and processes.
- Experience in creating BOM.
- Knowledge on customer portals.
- knowledge of automotive manufacturing and assembly activities, processes, and standards in substrates, coatings or technical assemblies.
- Project/program management experience and deep understanding of automotive product development gates, timing, and processes.
- Knowledge on 3D drawings (CAT, SOLIDWORDS, etc)
- Proven use of Problem-Solving Tools (6 Sigma, DFSS, Cause Map, 5 Why, 8D, etc.).
